The Honda CR-V is a compact SUV with impressive handling and fuel consumption. The vehicle more than lives up to Honda’s strong reputation for safety, reliability and practicality.
The exterior of the vehicle is sleek and stylish, with a streamlined body and extra touches such as body-coloured door handles and a Shark Fin antenna. The door mirrors can be adjusted from inside the car and are heated, ideal for cold and icy weather.
The CR-V has powerful halogen headlights as standard, with an auto on/off time which switches off the lights at pre-set times. There are also LED daytime running lights which remain on throughout the day to ensure the car is visible even in bad weather conditions.
For a compact SUV the CR-V is not short on space, with Honda’s Magic Seats providing quick and easy storage under the rear seats and a spacious boot. There are a number of changes the driver can make to the steering wheel and seat position, with tilt and telescopic wheel adjustments and power lumber adjust included as standard. The overall appearance of the CR-V’s interior is highly contemporary, with an intelligent multi-info display and illuminated ignition switch fitted as standard.
The 1.6-litre i-VTEC engine can reach an impressive 64.2 mpg in a combined cycle and emit 115g of CO2 per km. Idle Stop, which turns off the engine when the car is idling to save fuel, is included as standard.
The two-wheel drive CR-V can accelerate from 0-60mph in around 11.2 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 113mph. Electric power steering means that the car handles well and the steering is quick, light and responsive.
As with all of Honda’s vehicles, a large number of safety features are included as standard, including front and side airbags and whiplash lessening headrests. The CR-V is also equipped with the latest braking technology, including Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, an Anti-lock Braking System and Brake Assist. The emergency stop signal flashes the brake lights and turns on the hazard lights when the brakes are applied suddenly by the driver at high speeds. The car also comes with City-Brake Active System, which brakes automatically if it senses obstacles immediately in front of the vehicle.
The audio system of the CV-R includes an iPod-compatible USB port, DAB digital radio and Bluetooth compatibility. Remote steering wheel audio controls allow the driver to change the volume without having to take their eyes off the road.
