All-new Mazda2 preview at unique virtual reality event

Motorists in Croydon had the opportunity to discover the all-new Mazda2 supermini during a unique virtual reality event held at Croydon Mazda on February 7, 2015. The exclusive preview allowed potential buyers to experience the car's advanced technology prior to its UK launch, and from here the vehicle will make an appearance at further dealerships as part of a 119-stop tour of Britain.

Visitors to the Imperial Way dealership donned cutting-edge Oculus Rift virtual reality headsets to explore the all-new Mazda2 and interact with a high-definition 3D model. Technology underpins the next-generation hatchback, and the revolutionary preview reflected this while also connecting motorists to the car in a memorable way.

On the event, Croydon Mazda Dealer Principal, Graham Doley, commented: “We were overwhelmed by the interest in the all-new Mazda2 from customers at the event; we can't wait until we have one in the showroom for test drives.

“Using the virtual reality Oculus Rift technology really enhanced the experience. Customers were transported to a virtual environment, where they could explore the details of the all-new Mazda2 and experience it from all angles, inside and out."

One of the most notable features of the all-new Mazda2 is SKYACTIV Technology, an advanced innovation which enables the car to deliver responsive acceleration yet without any compromise on efficiency. A range of refined petrol engines will be offered from launch to join the new 1.5-litre SKYACTIV-D diesel. The manufacturer will couple the unit with a six-speed manual gearbox for a return of up to 83.1mpg and emissions of just 89g/km, which are among the best in the segment. Complementing this leading technology is a modern, sports-inspired look that should help the supermini stand out among its rivals and appeal to more motorists.
