Based upon the regular A4 Avant, the All-New Audi RS 4 Avant is an incredibly quick yet practical saloon car that has much to offer executives and families alike. Exceptionally well-built and stylishly designed, this upmarket estate is a terrific all-rounder.
The handsome-looking RS 4 Avant boasts a number of eye-catching features. For instance, the vehicle rides on attractive, lightweight 19-inch alloy wheels and features the marque’s characteristic trapezoidal front grille and elegant RS oval exhausts. It also possesses a five-door body, ensuring that access to both rear passenger and boot compartments is a breeze. Speaking of the luggage bay, a wide tailgate aperture and low load sill makes stowing bulky items a straightforward proposition.
Inside, the All-New Audi RS 4 Avant has a luxurious, leather-upholstered cabin that provides plenty of head and legroom for five adult travellers. Front-row occupants are treated to power-adjustable sports seats, and the driver further benefits from a tilt-and-telescopic, Alcantara-bound steering wheel. The practical credentials of this car are further enhanced by a 505-litre boot space – one of the biggest in the RS 4 Avant’s class. Thanks to 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats that drop with the push of a lever, cargo capacity increases to 1,510 litres.
A V6 engine replaces the outgoing V8 unit, but that doesn’t prevent the all-wheel-drive RS 4 Avant from being quicker than ever – thanks, in part, to an 80kg weight reduction. The car’s 2.9-litre 440bhp twin-turbo engine is paired with eight-speed automatic transmission. This delivers a peak torque of 600Nm (an increase of 170Nm) and 0-60mph in less than four seconds. Fuel economy and emissions are improved too; the vehicle now returns up to 32.1mpg (versus 26.4mpg) and produces 199g/km (as opposed to 249g/km).
Audi’s Virtual Cockpit is a standard inclusion and features a 12.3-inch digital display, instead of a more conventional instrument panel. The vehicle also comes with a ten-speaker sound system, which includes DAB radio, among other things. Also featured is Audi’s Smartphone Interface, which makes it possible to mirror your Android or Apple phone’s display via the car’s 8.3-inch touchscreen. The latter also provides access to a 3D satellite navigation system.
The regular A4 comes with Euro NCAP’s maximum five-star crash-test rating, and it’s reasonable to expect that RS 4 Avant, if tested, would yield the same score. In any case, an array of driver aids and passive safety features are included as standard. For example, Multi-collision Brake Assist automatically applies maximum braking in order to prevent potential collisions. Parking System Plus features too, using sensors to alert the driver to obstacles in front of and behind the car.
The All-New Audi RS 4 Avant is already here to test drive at Drift Bridge and is certain to attract a lot of interest. Please get in touch with us as soon as you are able to register your interest.
