Producing lower CO 2 emissions than petrol vehicles, it’s kinder on the environment, while a smartly appointed cabin and generous levels of equipment mean it’s a pleasure to drive. Select your ideal model from a choice of Exclusive-Line, Homura and Takumi trim levels.

Exterior and Interior

The handsome Mazda CX-60 has a distinctly coupé-like look, which is thanks in part to its projecting front end, which hints at the power contained within. The vehicle’s gentle but determinedly sweeping roofline further adds to a general air of athleticism. Nevertheless, this is an SUV through and through, with the tell-tale elevated ride height and subtly rugged body style demonstrating its versatility. Entry-level Exclusive-Line trims ride on stylish 18-inch alloy wheels, and are fitted with automatic LED headlights and daytime running lights as standard.

The five-seat Mazda CX-60 is especially roomy; it’s longer and wider than the CX-5, in fact, while maintaining the same approximate height. This means that plenty of space is provided for rear-seated travellers, with legroom being particularly generous. There’s also a fair amount of storage provision, including a large centre-console compartment and good-sized door bins. Last but not least, a 450-litre boot (featuring underfloor storage) expands to a sizeable 1,726-litre capacity with the rear seats folded.

Performance

The Mazda CX-60 is installed with a 2.5-litre petrol engine, supported by a 129kW electric motor, which in turn is powered by a 17.8kWh lithium-ion battery. This combination delivers 323bhp and a maximum torque of 500Nm, allowing the vehicle to race from 0-62mph in just 5.8 seconds. Moreover, it returns as much as 188.3mpg while producing emissions from just 33g/km – and it offers an all-electric range of 39 miles, which is longer than the average commute.

Technology and safety

Entry-level Exclusive-Line grades are furnished with an eight-speaker sound system, which includes an AM/FM tuner, DAB radio, USB-C ports and Bluetooth connectivity. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay feature too, allowing you to mirror your smartphone via the 12.3-inch touchscreen. The latter provides access to a wide range of features, including a satellite navigation system that offers European mapping and comes with five years’ worth of free map updates.

Since the CX-60 has been awarded a full five-star crash-test rating by Euro NCAP, it can be taken as read that it’s an extremely safe vehicle to travel in. Certainly, it’s packed with protective features, such as Driver Attention Alert. This smart technology operates at speeds of 40mph and higher, and observes the driver’s steering input, suggesting the most opportune times to take a break. Other standard-issue driver aids include Blind-spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-traffic Alert, Lane-keep Assist, Lane-departure Warning and Traffic Sign Recognition. All models feature e-call with GPS too, which automatically alerts the emergency services in the event of a collision.
