About the Role: As a Diagnostics Technician at Audi Approved Epsom, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our vehicles meet the highest safety and performance standards. You will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing vehicles, using cutting-edge diagnostic tools and technology. Your expertise will help keep our clients’ vehicles running smoothly and efficiently, providing them with peace of mind on the road. This role is based in our state-of-the-art facilities, where you will work alongside a team of skilled professionals dedicated to delivering exceptional service.

Hours: 45 hour week Monday to Friday, with a requirement to work Saturday Mornings (5 hours) in addition, on a rota basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vehicle Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify any issues or malfunctions using both visual and diagnostic tools.
  • Diagnostic Testing: Utilize advanced diagnostic equipment to analyse vehicle systems, including engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical systems, and onboard computers.
  • Troubleshooting: Systematically diagnose and troubleshoot complex automotive issues, following precise procedures to pinpoint root causes.
  • Repair and Maintenance: Perform necessary repairs or adjustments, including component replacement, wiring repairs, and software reprogramming, to restore vehicles to optimal condition.
  • Software Updates: Stay updated on software updates and manufacturer recalls, ensuring all vehicles meet the latest standards.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all diagnostic tests, repairs, parts used, and work performed, ensuring compliance with regulations and tracking maintenance history.
  • Customer Communication: Clearly communicate findings, recommended repairs, costs, and preventative maintenance measures to customers, ensuring they are well-informed and satisfied.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper handling of hazardous materials and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Skills and Attributes:

  • Technical Expertise: Strong background in vehicle diagnostics with the ability to interpret diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and understand complex automotive systems.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in your inspections and diagnostics, ensuring no issue goes unnoticed.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to systematically troubleshoot and resolve complex issues, using both manual methods and advanced diagnostic tools.
  • Customer Service: Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical issues to customers in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Organized and Efficient: Capable of managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy in documentation and repairs.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures, including software updates and manufacturer recalls.
  • Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safety protocols and the importance of following them to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Qualifications: Ideally, a Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (IMI, City & Guilds, or equivalent), although Level 2 will be considered. A full and valid UK driving license is essential.
