Location: Drift Bridge Škoda – Brand-New Dealership

About the Role: This is an exciting opportunity to join Drift Bridge Škoda, a new Škoda franchise launching within our established Epsom site. You’ll be part of a newly created Škoda team, operating from a proven, well-equipped facility with strong systems, high workshop standards and an existing customer base. As a Technician, you will play a key role in setting the standard for Škoda aftersales at Drift Bridge from day one. You’ll use the latest Škoda diagnostic systems and workshop technology to diagnose, repair and maintain vehicles to manufacturer standards while helping build the reputation of our new Škoda operation. This role offers the best of both worlds; the energy of a new brand launch, combined with the stability, tooling and processes of a long-established site.

Hours: 45 hour week Monday to Friday, with a requirement to work Saturday Mornings (5 hours) in addition, on a rota basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vehicle Diagnostics & Inspection: Carry out detailed inspections using visual checks and diagnostic systems to identify faults and performance issues.
  • Fault Finding & Testing: Use Škoda diagnostic tools to analyse vehicle systems including engine, transmission, braking, suspension, steering, electrical and control modules.
  • Troubleshooting: Follow structured diagnostic processes to accurately identify root causes.
  • Repair & Rectification: Complete repairs including component replacement, wiring repairs and software coding or reprogramming.
  • Software Updates & Campaigns: Ensure vehicles are updated with the latest Škoda software, recalls and campaigns.
  • Workshop Records: Accurately record all work completed, parts used and diagnostic results.
  • Customer & Advisor Support: Support service advisors by clearly explaining technical findings and recommended repairs.
  • Safety & Compliance: Work in line with all health, safety and manufacturer standards.

About You: You are a capable and methodical technician with strong diagnostic skills and a professional approach to your work. You enjoy working with modern vehicle systems and take pride in doing things properly the first time You’ll be motivated by the chance to be part of a new Škoda operation, helping establish how the brand is delivered on site while working within a proven, professional workshop environment.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Technical Expertise: Strong background in vehicle diagnostics with the ability to interpret diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and understand complex automotive systems.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in your inspections and diagnostics, ensuring no issue goes unnoticed.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to systematically troubleshoot and resolve complex issues, using both manual methods and advanced diagnostic tools.
  • Customer Service: Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical issues to customers in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Organized and Efficient: Capable of managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy in documentation and repairs.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures, including software updates and manufacturer recalls.
  • Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safety protocols and the importance of following them to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Qualifications: Ideally, a Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (IMI, City & Guilds, or equivalent), although Level 2 will be considered. A full and valid UK driving license is essential.
