Volkswagen's iconic Scirocco Coupé returns, with a number of enhancements made to the impressive original. Dynamic styling remains, while improved performance is achieved through the refined engines available.
The Scirocco is one of the sportiest models released by Volkswagen, with a low profile and various stylish details drawing many admirers. The narrow front end holds contrasting crystal-clear headlamps set within a black inlay, while a mesh pattern built into the front bumper is framed by fog lights. A tidy tailgate features dual exhaust system, and durable alloy wheels come as standard. The cabin continues the sports theme with a flat-bottomed three-spoke steering wheel alongside aluminium capped pedals and leather upholstery on selected models. The concise instrument panel combines digital and analogue dials, while an intuitively designed dashboard places main functions close to hand.
Petrol and diesel engines power the new Scirocco, married with six-speed manual transmission or a DSG automatic gearbox. The 138bhp 2.0-litre TDI engine receives BlueMotion technology for best in range economy of 62.8mpg. Electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors join rain sensors as practical additions, while infotainment features are led by the touch screen navigation/radio system and Multi Device Interface (MDI). To keep vital devices charged, a 12V socket features in the luggage compartment.
Safety is a key concern for Volkswagen, evident through the multitude of systems found in the Scirocco. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) combines numerous technologies which work together to prevent accidents. In addition the passive inclusions of multiple airbags, three-point seat belts, ISOFIX child seat anchors and head restraints protect should an accident occur.
