The Defence Discount Service (DDS) and Blue Light Card Programme are schemes put in place by the Ministry of Defence and BLC Ltd respectively, aimed at people working in various professions.
The DDS was designed by the MOD as a way of saying ‘thank you’ to those serving in the military, as well as veterans and reservists, by ensuring savings on branded items and at various retailers such as KFC and Vodafone. Membership in the DDS increases at a rate of around 300 new members a week.
The Blue Light Scheme is a card membership programme which offers discounts to currently serving Police Officers, Fire Fighters, Paramedics and NHS medical staff. Programme membership is quickly growing, with around 200 new members each week.
Members of both schemes receive a card that proves their membership, with the price of it being just £4.99 for 5 years. That’s 5 years of great discounts of numerous brands and items for just under a pound per year.
