Interior The ID.4 is a big SUV – bigger than the Tiguan, for instance, and it’s the equal of many other petrol/diesel equivalents in the class above. This means that there’s ample space in both compartments to stretch out – and a tall roofline ensures generous headroom too.

Big boot This all-electric SUV not only comfortably accommodates five adults, it possesses a 543-litre boot that grows to a not-inconsiderable 1,655 litres whenever rear seats are flipped. Moreover, there’s space below the boot floor to stow charging cables and the like.
Get comfortable As standard, the ID.4 is provided with VW’s Comfort Package. This includes power-folding and adjustable mirrors, a dimming rear-view mirror, a rain sensor, automatic dual-zone climate control, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.
Technologically advanced Entry-level 52kWh Pure Life Edition grades are equipped with a six-speaker sound system, Discover Pro navigation, natural voice control, four USB-C ports, Apple/Android smartphone connectivity and a wireless charger. The car comes with a full five-star Euro NCAP crash-test rating too, and a host of driver-assist features, including a rear-view camera and front and rear parking sensors.
Electric efficiency A standard-issue 52kWh battery enables a range of up to 223 miles – and 77kWh models manage a maximum 326-mile range on a single charge. Naturally, the car produces zero harmful emissions, which means that it’s exempt from Clean Air Zone fees, including the ULEZ charge. Last but not least, the ID.4 is very cost-effective to run.
Exterior Practicality is one of the ID.4’s biggest assets. This is why, for example, it features wide-opening doors that make access as easy as can be – and there’s plenty more to appreciate about this 100% electric SUV.

Alloys as standard Baseline models ride on stylish, lightweight, efficiency-enhancing 18-inch alloy wheels. Sizes increase as you move up through the trim levels. For instance, 77kWh Pro Life Edition grades feature 19-inch Jet Black, precision-finished versions, while the top-tier GTX trim is equipped with 20-inch alloys.
LED illumination LED headlights provide you with a superb view of the way ahead. LED taillights, meanwhile, ensure that trailing drivers are offered a clear view of you and your Volkswagen ID.4, which means much less likelihood of rear collisions.
Heat-insulated windows Side and rear windows are fitted with heat-insulating glass as standard. It’s one of many efficient ID.4 touches, making it easier for you to maintain an equitable cabin climate.
Panoramic roof Available with Style Edition trims, an expansive glass roof covers the majority of the cabin. This allows for a wide spread of natural light that makes an already roomy cabin even lighter and airier.
