With its sleek, coupé-like appearance, the Shooting Brake offers a perfect marriage of practical and fashionable. Entry-level Elegance grades are fitted with 18-inch Almere Adamantium Silver alloy wheels, which add extra dazzle to the vehicle’s flanks while delivering enhanced efficiency. The vehicle features a range of LEDs too, including self-levelling headlights, daytime running lights and tail lights – even the rear licence plate is illuminated by LED lights. Interior

Compared with the standard Arteon hatchback, the Shooting Brake delivers improved passenger space, with plenty of head and legroom, even for those in the back. The driver is provided with a six-way electrically adjustable position, which also offers four-way power-adjustable lumbar support. Furthermore, both front sports seats are heated, offering a choice of three temperature settings. With 60/40 split-folding rear seats dropped, a 590-litre boot space expands to an exceedingly useful 1,600 litres.

Performance

Thanks to Dynamic Chassis Control, which offers surface-appropriate shock absorption, this sporty cruiser delivers a comfortable ride. It features various drive modes - ECO, Comfort, Normal and Sport - allowing you to select the one that best matches your tastes and the prevailing conditions. A 1.5-litre 148bhp petrol engine is installed as standard, managing a combined 43.9mpg while producing CO₂ emissions from 141g/km. To enjoy optimal efficiency, choose a 2.0-litre 148bhp diesel powertrain, which returns 56.6mpg (combined) and produces emissions from just 125g/km.

Safety

Though not tested for crash-test efficiency, the Shooting Brake’s hatchback sibling has passed with flying colours, scoring Euro NCAP’s maximum five-star rating. Certainly, this vehicle is laden with passive safety features, including multiple airbags, height-adjustable three-point seatbelts and a pair of ISOFIX child-seat fixtures located on outer rear seats. The car comes with several essential driver aids too, including hazard lights that activate automatically whenever full brake pressure is applied. And the Shooting Brake’s front and rear-mounted sensors prove an absolute boon in all kinds of parking scenarios.

Technology

With its standard-issue eight-inch colour touchscreen multimedia system, you can enjoy entertainment aplenty while taking full advantage of real-time navigation data. Meanwhile, MirrorLink technology allows you to safely and easily access your Android or Apple smartphone via the car’s dashboard-mounted display.
